Opinion

I think that the outlook of this country is not good. They have a big sanitation problem and 2/3 of the population is in poverty. 40% is unemployed. Plus, the king has been doing some bad things and the people and mad, but they are doing nothing. I think that if the people were to outcry and rebel, then some things could change. But if the king is doing bad things and unwilling to change or compromise, then the country will continue to decline.

Letter to Embassy

Hello my name is Mariah. I am a middle school student in the eighth grade. In geography class I am doing a project on Swaziland. I was wondering if you could provide me with some information about your country. Things like eating practices, the economy, the government, and the military. My project is due on December 8th. Any information that you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Mariah Miller

Comparison to America

Swaziland is much, much different from America. While we love mainly the same sports, and we all go to school at around the same age, America has a much higher GDP. We are also much more advanced technologically, and we have a much better sanitation system. Also, Swaziland is one of the few countries left on this earth that has a monarchy. 2/3 of the Swazi population is in poverty and the unemployment rate is 40% while ours is 5.9%.

Relationship to America

The United States assists Swaziland with a number of HIV/AIDS initiatives and programs implemented through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Peace Corps, African Development Foundation, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Defense. In addition, the U.S. supports small enterprise development, education, military training, institutional and human resources development, agricultural development, and trade capacity building.
